Venue Spotlight: Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant Orlando

Ceviche on Church Street, Downtown Orlando

On Sunday January 10, 2010, the Orlando History Center arranged for the first ever I Do Downtown Bridal Crawl (another blog post on that wonderful event to come). There were 8 venues showcased in the crawl in which brides walked from one end of Orange Avenue to the other to see unique places to be married and have receptions.

At the crawl, I found Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant. I was floored by how much they had to offer not only in cuisine but in atmosphere. At Ceviche, you’ll find the most authentic Spanish cuisine, delicious wines and traditional tapas good for any dinner night or for your banquet or social event.

The establishment is open Monday through Saturday for dinner starting at 5pm until late in the evening. The bar is open Thursday through Saturday from 5pm to 2am when the rest of the Downtown Orlando bars close.

There is also their Flamenco Bar with a stage for live performances by Spanish guitarists and Flamenco dancers. With its high, cathedral ceilings and romantic decor, not only does the Flamenco Bar area serve as a great place to spend Thursday, Friday or Saturday night with your friends for some great drinks but it is a great place for cocktail receptions, big parties and other special events. This space can fit 130 seated or more for informal events.

Ceviche's Flamenco Room

One of the most unique spaces I have seen yet is to the right of the Flamenco Room. An amazing space called the Candle Room greets guests with a breathtaking wall of candles in an offset area that is great for smaller ceremonies or rehearsal dinners. The rich colors of the stone floor, the wood and the brick brings out the drama especially when only lit by the wall of candles or those on the tables. See some photos below, thanks to Pilster Photography. The first three pictures are JUST of the Candle Room and the rest are of the banquet space upstairs on the second floor!

When you walk through the Candle Room and up a flight of old Orlando steps to the second floor, you will find the banquet area complete with bar, a second space for a lounge area or more seating and a balcony overlooking Church Street. The entire space brings the feel of the building’s architecture and decor full circle with its oversized mirrors, antique ceilings and dark woods. It’s definitely a unique place, if not the most, if you’re going for that old world feel.

Also, the beautiful flowers you see all over the venue in these photos are by Raining Roses in Orlando. They do such beautiful work.
