VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant, Orlando

I know I did a whole blog on Ceviche back in January when I visited for the “I Do Downtown Bridal Crawl” but I just adore the venue. Not only is it beautiful and in a great location (on Church Street in downtown Orland0) but the food and entire atmosphere is amazing! I had my first frog legs and ox tail while there … don’t worry there are other things, too. SO absolutely delicious. PLUS, the staff there is super helpful and accommodating! Thanks, Kelly, for turning in your vendor spotlight!! Here is there submission followed by some great highlight photos of the venue!!

Tell us your company bio/history.
Ceviche Tapas Bar and Restaurant is a privately owned LLC with 5 locations in Central and Western Florida: Orlando, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Sarasota.  Each is situated in the heart of the town it resides in, in the most unique property with history, ambiance, and character.  Ceviche offers guests a true tapas experience with 114 dishes to choose from and live Flamenco shows!  Each location also has its own private party capabilities, but Orlando is the only one with a full service banquet hall, completely separated from the restaurant and perfect for receptions!

What is the best part about what you do?
The best part about Ceviche is it’s something “unique.”  If you demand something different than the hotel ballroom, want a fun theme, and if you’re a fan of great food then you HAVE to check it out!  All of the locations are also spectacular in that they come with so much décor and character already that a busy bride doesn’t have to worry about starting from scratch.  Finally, Ceviche Orlando is located in the heart of Downtown Orlando in the middle of it all!

What is the best piece of advice you could give any bride (or groom)?
The best piece of advice is hire a coordinator, even if it is just for the day of!  You cannot and should not do this alone!  The second piece of advice is truly evaluate what parts of your reception are most important to you and spend your money there.  If you want a big party, go crazy with the bar tab.  If you’re foodies, plan a fun and exciting menu for your guests.  If you’re more interested in the décor let us be the start and bring in the best!

What is currently one of your favorite wedding trends?
We love comfort foods and family style dinners!  Serve your guests something that you know they’ll all love and you can still avoid breaking the budget.

Is there something else wedding related you wish you could do (i.e., another job, theme, etc.)?
I wish I had 4 more Ceviche locations to run (although I would need 4 clones).  I’m so excited to see where we will open next!  It’s a great company and concept to work for.

What is your favorite wedding blog to follow?
Can I skip this one? LOL Not really 🙂

Venue Spotlight: Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant Orlando

Ceviche on Church Street, Downtown Orlando

On Sunday January 10, 2010, the Orlando History Center arranged for the first ever I Do Downtown Bridal Crawl (another blog post on that wonderful event to come). There were 8 venues showcased in the crawl in which brides walked from one end of Orange Avenue to the other to see unique places to be married and have receptions.

At the crawl, I found Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant. I was floored by how much they had to offer not only in cuisine but in atmosphere. At Ceviche, you’ll find the most authentic Spanish cuisine, delicious wines and traditional tapas good for any dinner night or for your banquet or social event.

The establishment is open Monday through Saturday for dinner starting at 5pm until late in the evening. The bar is open Thursday through Saturday from 5pm to 2am when the rest of the Downtown Orlando bars close.

There is also their Flamenco Bar with a stage for live performances by Spanish guitarists and Flamenco dancers. With its high, cathedral ceilings and romantic decor, not only does the Flamenco Bar area serve as a great place to spend Thursday, Friday or Saturday night with your friends for some great drinks but it is a great place for cocktail receptions, big parties and other special events. This space can fit 130 seated or more for informal events.

Ceviche's Flamenco Room

One of the most unique spaces I have seen yet is to the right of the Flamenco Room. An amazing space called the Candle Room greets guests with a breathtaking wall of candles in an offset area that is great for smaller ceremonies or rehearsal dinners. The rich colors of the stone floor, the wood and the brick brings out the drama especially when only lit by the wall of candles or those on the tables. See some photos below, thanks to Pilster Photography. The first three pictures are JUST of the Candle Room and the rest are of the banquet space upstairs on the second floor!

When you walk through the Candle Room and up a flight of old Orlando steps to the second floor, you will find the banquet area complete with bar, a second space for a lounge area or more seating and a balcony overlooking Church Street. The entire space brings the feel of the building’s architecture and decor full circle with its oversized mirrors, antique ceilings and dark woods. It’s definitely a unique place, if not the most, if you’re going for that old world feel.

Also, the beautiful flowers you see all over the venue in these photos are by Raining Roses in Orlando. They do such beautiful work.

For Banquet & Wedding information, call Kelly Warren at 321.281.8140. Ceviche is located at 125 West Church Street in beautiful Downtown Orlando, Florida 32801. This venue is something you shouldn’t miss out on when looking for a venue for your special event!

Photo Shoot with Rooz

I love Roozbeh. Did I mention that yet? Roozbeh of Distinct Concept (www.distinctconcept.com) is one of the best people I know and one of the most artistically wonderful. He took a few portraits of me for my website and these are a few of my favorites. I had a huge respsonse on Facebook to these. I hope you like them. I adore them. Thanks Rooz. You are the absolute best.

Photos were taken at the City Arts Factory in Downtown Orlando (www.cityartsfactory.com). I now absolutely love that place. Beautiful space.
